The slot games you play today at a Canadian online casino look very different to the one-arm bandits of days gone by, with their fruit and bell symbols. But when you get down to basics, the overall objective with any slot is the same – to get a matching sequence of symbols and win a big cash prize.

At Refuel Casino, we have literally hundreds of different slot games available for Canadian players to choose from. Each of them follows this same basic principle. But beyond that, every one of them is unique and features its own distinct theme, symbols, rules, bonuses, and prizes.

Awesome prizes

Table games like roulette and blackjack remain the most popular of all the casino games, and with our live casino tables, that is as true at Refuel as it is in any land-based casino. Yet surely there is no Canadian casino fan who can resist a visit to the slots from time to time.

The simple reason for this is that slot games offer that outside chance of an absolutely immense win, especially when you play one of the jackpot games. It’s a little like playing the Canadian lottery, in that the odds of scooping that win might be long, but we know that someone has to win it – so why could it not be you?

How do you win?

In an old-fashioned slot game, everything is very simple. Set the three reels in motion and hope for matching symbols in a straight line when they come to rest. With the latest video slots, there are usually more than three reels and also more than one pay line. This effectively means there can be hundreds, even thousands, of ways to win.

No two games are exactly alike. If you are playing a particular slot game for the first time, it is always best to start with low wagers until you have got to grips with how the game works. At Refuel Casino, you can play all slots “just for fun” with no real money wagering at all. It’s the perfect risk-free way to develop your winning online casino strategy!

Bonus features

While matching symbols is at the core of every slot game, most have extra features that make the game more immersive and also give you additional opportunities to boost your winnings. These used to generally take the form of a free spins bonus, but as games have become more sophisticated, so have the bonus events.

Common examples include pick ‘em rounds, where you might choose to open a box and reveal a winning multiplier symbol, while avoiding the one that will send you back to the main game with nothing. Others take the form of popular board games, where you move around the board to increase the bonus.

In some cases, the bonus is triggered at random. However, it is more common for it to be set in motion by a specific combination of symbols showing up on the reels. Typically, these will include scatter or bonus symbols, but again, no two games are exactly the same.

Choosing your game

The most difficult thing about playing slots at Refuel online casino is choosing from the hundreds of games. If you scroll through the slots in the casino games section, you will see that there are all sorts of different themes. Sometimes it is best not to think too hard and just to go for something that appeals to you. For example, Punk Rocker and Dance Party are likely to attract music fans, while if you are into sport, you are more likely to gravitate towards Football Star Deluxe or 11 Champions.

If you are still undecided, you can’t go wrong with one of the classics. For example, Starburst is the most popular online casino slots game of all time. Even though it was released back in 2012, people play it as much today as ever. Other hugely popular games are Reactoonz or the Ancient Egypt-themed Book of Dead.

Judge frequented several casinos

Chester County, Pennsylvania Magisterial District Judge Michael Cabry III, 59, has been charged with using $4,000 from his campaign finance account to feed a six-figure gambling habit at various casinos in Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Cabry was arrested Tuesday and charged Wednesday with theft and election code violations by a statewide grand jury. Announcing the charges, Attorney General Josh Shapiro said the judge broke the law “and undermined public trust in government” by using campaign contributions not intended for his personal benefit.

took advantage of the trust placed in him by supporters and the public.”

Shapiro highlighted that Cabry’s role as public official and candidate meant he had a duty to uphold the law. But, instead of serving with integrity, Cabry “took advantage of the trust placed in him by supporters and the public.”

In a report by the Philadelphia Inquirer, an executive order issued prior to Wednesday’s charges stripped Cabry of his duties and barred him from entering the courthouse. Any cases he was presiding over will be assigned to other district judges.

According to the official press release from the Attorney General’s office, Cabry set up a political action committee (PAC) called Citizens for Cabry in 2016. The PAC, which was created for the purpose of collecting and spending campaign donations solely for Cabry’s 2017 re-election campaign, was in line with Pennsylvania campaign finance law.

But Cabry is accused of making “dozens of purchases” on the PAC’s debit card which were of a personal nature and unconnected to his re-election campaign. The purchases in question included laundry services, food purchases, hotel visits, and cash withdrawals at casinos, which court documents said “supported a six-figure gambling habit.”

Cabry’s allegedly illicit purchases made at casinos in Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania were subsequently recorded as reimbursements in his campaign finance records.

The ATM withdrawals include $205 at Hollywood Casino in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, $205.99 at Harrah’s Casino in Chester County, Pennsylvania, $204.99 from Delaware Park Casino in Wilmington, Delaware, and three separate withdrawals amounting to $751.98 in Ventnor, New Jersey, and from Bally’s Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. A further $200 was withdrawn at Dover Downs Casino in Dover, Delaware, on the same day the accused paid $489 at a Microtel Inn hotel in Dover.

Cabry had served as a judge in Chester County since the year 2000. In 2017, he ran unopposed and was re-elected to another six-year term.

Court documents reveal that in 2017, Gabry spent a total of $110,782.62 at Delaware Park Casino. He won $101,709.11 at the casino the same year, reducing his total losses to $9,073.51.

Dawson R. Muth, Cabry’s attorney, did not respond to a request for comment. The case is being prosecuted by Senior Deputy AG Megan Madaffari, with the investigation conducted in tandem with the Judicial Conduct Board and the FBI. A preliminary hearing has been set for October 26.
